And so Lidewij’s cinematographic journey was defined. As a filmmaker and waterwoman, she feels most alive being surrounded by water. Lidewij strives for a cinematic look and approach, with a raw edge and integrity. Coming from a background in (visual) anthropology, her fascination for people runs deep. It is combined with a passion for watersports, thrill-seeking and urban culture.
Lidewij finds purpose in the untold. She always tries to remain open to other perspectives, laying her eyes on people but allowing others to look into hers. Once we start seeing each other as a brother, a sister, human beings. Beauty will spread like wildfire.

Sungod - Grounded
Filmed on the remote Atlantic archipelago of Cape Verde, Grounded tells the story of one kitesurfer's commitment to stay true to his roots. 4x World Champion and Team SunGod Athlete Airton Cozzolino has travelled the world on his journey to the top of his sport, but he's never lost touch with where it all began: surfing waves on broken boards on the beaches of Sal, Cape Verde. Beyond the titles and trophies, Grounded reveals the compelling story of an athlete who is rooted in his warm community, loyal to his humble beginnings, and committed to giving back to the young people of Cape Verde.

Born in Schellinkhout, Netherlands, Pippa grew up with the sea at her doorstep, literally being able to see the water from her bedroom window it didn’t take long for her to join her Kite enthusiast dad on the water with a kiteboard strapped to her feet.

DUOTONE - Between the Walls Trailer
A short film by Lidewij Hartog shot in Mauritius. We had a house for ten days, with five extraordinary athletes, on a breathtaking island. The idea was to create something with a lot of soul and that would really grasp their passion for wave riding. Plus capture life as it is: beautiful, but overwhelming and daunting at times.
